The Big Three-O, Part One.

I have two non-birthday related entries I need to write so I need to get to blogging!

As I have touched on before, Jason is terrible with surprises. I end up getting presents early because he cannot contain his excitement over them! I think it is pretty adorable and who am I to say no to premature gifting?? The man even proposed to me a week before what he had planned because the ring was burning a hole in his pocket.

Well, I am happy to report, my husband successfully kept a secret and I was surprised with a prearranged baby sitter and an early birthday dinner at Chez Nous Thursday night with our good friends Kaci and Matt! I squealed with glee as I peeled off my baby spit up covered clothes, put on makeup and even shaved my legs. WHOA, fancy!

Escargot, shrimp, foie gras, champagne and chocolate ganache with a night cap at a little tavern nearby. Perfect evening!

I Used To Think 30 Was Old.

..... but my life has JUST begun.

-------
Incredible doesn't even begin to describe my 30th birthday festivities. There is so much to tell that I will probably have to break it up into a few entries, so bear with me.
.
For now, just know that surprise birthday dinner at Chez Nous + weekend at Moody Gardens with my sweet little family + hot stone massage + seeing Addie's face light up when she saw penguins for the first time + 24 hour room service + feeling extremely loved = AWESOMENESS.
.
It's going to be a great decade!

Big Day.

I packed up the kiddo yesterday and we headed over to Gigi's for a visit. We ordered pizza and chatted and played with Bug down on the floor on her play mat. She kept rolling up on her side like she has been for about 2 weeks now. Jason and I have been working with her and cheering her on to roll over but she hadn't quite been able to throw her hip over yet.

So Gigi and Mom and I are talking to her and encouraging her and she has this intense look of determination in her eye. Than all the sudden she grunts and hoists her hip over and with a few more grunts she is completely flipped and working on pulling her arm out from underneath her. With a little more work she pops her head up and it releases her arm and she has done it! She squealed and pumped her arms and legs in excitement as she loves being on her tummy.

It was such a big and special moment and I was so proud of her and it was so cool that it happened over at Gigi's house. One of my biggest fears is that Addie will be too young when Gigi passes and will not get to know this wonderful woman that is like a mother to me. But now we have this incredible memory and I can tell her about it for years to come so neither of us will forget.

Our big girl has rolled over 5 times since then and today I finally got it on video. What a big day. :)

Bay Holiday.

We had the pleasure of spending the holiday weekend at the bay (Palacios, TX) with Kaci and her fam! They were all so sweet and welcoming and we had the greatest time. It was our first real road trip with the baby and she did great!

7 things I loved about the weekend:

1. We were well fed! Chef Matt made steak, twice baked potatoes, salad and salmon. We also had crab stuffed jalapenos (compliments of Grandma Peterson) and Kaci and I baked two apple pies.

2. Addie's white trash bathing suit. How a one piece becomes a two piece? Aunt Kaci and a pair of scissors.

3. Kaci's imitation of Matt.

4. The no makeup rule!

5. The breeze! A lot different than the sauna-like weather we have at home here in Houston!

6. Addie finally met the famous Aunt Penny! Penny was sweet enough to babysit her for a little bit and I am pretty sure when we went to pick Addie up she didn't want to leave!

7. And last, but certainly not least.... Addie's GINORMOUS sun hat! It was fully functional in keeping the sun and the wind away... and great for a few laughs as well. :)

Thanks to the Peterson family for having us, it was such a relaxing time!
I have an entry I need to write and pics to post of our lovely weekend at the bay... But for now....

Looks like baby girl might take off crawling before she even learns to roll over... hehe

It is crazy, even after spending almost 4 months with this sweet one, sometimes I still can't believe this pretty girl is all ours!
