Breckenridge, CO.

Among the great memories and photographs and laughs we brought back from Breckenridge, we also brought back the flu and bronchitus thus our absence from the blog! We had our first joint doctor's appointment as a married couple Monday morning and have been stuck in bed ever since. Let me tell you, there is no greater bonding experience than sharing a box of Puffs Plus and playing rock paper scissors to see who should shower that day. When a man gives you the last dose of Dayquil with a smile.... that is love, people.

I crawled out of the cave today to come to work and try to feel like a normal person. Ok so I wasn't quite normal to begin with but you get it!

Highlights from the trip!

1. Seeing real snow for the first time! They couldn't pull me away from it which might be why I got so sick! Ha!

2. Riding the gondolas up the mountain and even getting stuck in one at the top!

3. Getting the knack of "layering."

4. Learning what a "Wally" is and what "off your peanuts" is from the English boys.

5. Exploring the town!

6. Having hot tea on our balcony every morning!

7. Enjoying the gorgeous view from our house every single day and just breathing it all in.

8. Watching Jason ski!

9. Watching Martin learn to ski! hehe

10. The sleigh ride through the woods with a steak dinner and entertainment afterward.

11. The Cheese/Wine Chocolate shop we discovered!

12. Making a snow angel.

13. Pushing Jason's face into the snow. (might be why HE got so sick!)

14. The fireplace!

15. The FOOD!! "The BEST Clam Chowder!" ~Jason Hensley

16. Our lovely homestead!

17. Enjoying my very first Hensley family vacation!

*There were so many great photos, it was hard to pick favorites! The full set of photos from our trip can be found here: Click Me

Leaving On A Jet Plane.

Tonight we will go from this:

Live Webcam from Houston, TX Currently 70 Degrees.

To this:

Live Webcam of Breckenridge, CO Currently 9 Degrees. 9! As in a single digit!

This is going to be hilarious, people! Me! In cold weather!

I asked Jason this morning if I should bring my favorite flip flops just in case and he fell out of the bed laughing holding his side.

Brace yourselves Colorado, we're coming!

I Love Holiday Traffic.

Friday: Mack's Monday Movie Review: As many of you could have guessed, we went and saw Friday 13th on Friday night. If you like blood spatter, this movie is for you! I was able to overlook the bad screenplay, bad acting and bad musical score because the screen was continuously peppered with pint after pint of the red stuff! Though a definite treat for the eyes, my ears were not as happy as we thought to ourselves, "Who brings a crying baby to a slasher flick at 10:30pm at night?" The people in our zipcode, that's who.

Saturday: Met up with Olivia at the nail salon to get a manicure and a pedicure. February means warm weather in H-town so we must keep our feet out of a tyrannosaurus rex state at all times, since open toe shoe season is 365 days a year. We should get some kind of extra money back on our taxes for this purpose alone. Am I right, ladies?

Sans makeup so cover your eyes if you are easily frightened or if there are small children nearby:

I arrived home to a hubby bustling about the kitchen getting things prepared for dinner. We've opted to stay in for a quiet dinner for Valentine's day every year since really we just want to hang out together and not have to battle the holiday crowds. He made orange-scented grilled lobster tail (impressed!) and we sipped champagne and enjoyed the thunderstorm outside on our back patio.

Check out that tablescape! He even used recycled items from the wedding. It was a proud moment. :)

Sunday: We woke up bright and early at noon (ha!) and got things cleaned up from the night before. I decided to try on my gear I borrowed from Ginny (If you are reading, THANK YOU!) for the ski trip since we are flying out on Wednesday. I'm just a leeeeetle excited, can you tell?

After that we headed to meet Jason's dad, step-mom, her son and two of his friends (in from England for the ski trip) for a Houston Aeros game.

My very first hockey game. Holy crap, it was AWESOME. I really think this might be my sport, people! I became part of the mob screaming for people to beat the crap out of each other and hoping we were lucky enough to see blood shed on the ice. We drank a beer and stomped our feet and watched the throw-back cheerleaders (Are these chicks like the ones that weren't good enough for the Texans and the Rockets squads? I swear one looked like my 2nd Grade homeroom teacher and she certainly didn't have any rhythm. Somebody fill me in here).

Happy Presidents Day!

XOXO,

Mack

Two Hours Of Our Lives Lost.

We’ve been sucked into the world of Netflix and have been watching a massive amount of movies lately, as if to test if we really do get unlimited movies each month. We are rebellious, I know this. Life on the edge, people.

Our latest watch? Lakeview Terrace.

I’d like to rename this movie, Welcome To The Neighborhood; It’s Time To Move or Why Do All Of Samuel Jackson’s Movies Suck Lately?

Unhappy about the interracial couple (husband is white, wife is African American) that moves in next door, psycho-angry-cop Able Turner (Samuel Jackson) decides to make their lives a living hell, forcing them to want to move. In one confusing scene, Able’s daughter goes next door to swim in the new neighbors pool without asking her dad’s permission first. Able comes home just in time to peak next door and catch his daughter dancing in her swimsuit to some poorly chosen Destiny’s Child CD outside the pool. He comes over and to make a point, drops his pants and begins to gyrate his hips and scream at his daughter in front of neighborwife lady. What the crap? Where I grew up, you’d get beat up for something like that. The daughter apologizes and they leave, with Able walking out of the back yard with his pants still around his ankles and boxers exposed. Again, I have to say… What the crap??

Unfortunately these days, I can’t see Samuel Jackson in anything without waiting for him to say, “I have had it with these mother—ing snakes on this mother—ing plane!!”
Sadly, there were no reptiles in this movie because that would have at least been mildy entertaining.

Mondays Are For Recuporating.

We had a jam packed weekend but had so much fun we wouldn't have had it any other way!

Friday night was date night and Jason took me to see the new 3D horror movie, My Bloody Valentine. Here we are in our sexy 3D glasses pumped pre-show about being scared out of our minds.

Let me tell you there is nothing more romantic than a pick axe flying through the screen and feeling like it is going to hit you in the face! :) I love horror and thankfully I have a husband who supports my morbid fascination even though he still has nightmares from watching Pet Cemetary when he was 12.

Saturday morning we met up with Kati and headed out for margaritas and to look at cameras for her to buy. Alcohol is always a must when trying to cushion the blow of a large purchase! I'm not a margarita drinker but somehow got talked into having 3 by the time our shopping trip was complete. She bought a Nikon D60 and I couldn't be more excited for her because now we are both camera dorks.

Due to above margarita consumption, we went home, took a nap and then Jason and I headed to Kaci's for a late night rock session. We've officially been suckered into Rock Band and I could not look like more of a loser playing!

I obviously had no idea what I was doing but enjoyed it immensely, nonetheless. Jason even busted out his vocal stylings. Let me just tell you, he is going to be so thrilled I posted this picture:

Sunday we went to Ginny and Augie's and got to spend time with Evan for his first Super Bowl. We cannot get enough of this little guy and could just hold him for hours! It was definitely hard to leave him when we had to go home.

6 days old.

Proud uncle.
